Goddess
Kali at Muktinath
Kali
is a tantric figure. She has no direct relationship with Muktinath as
such, nor with the Kali Gandaki
River. Indirectly there is a connection though; she is consort of
Shiva on whom she is standing here. (Shiva is
venerated in Muktinath at the Shiva-Parvati
mandir.)
Kali is The Slayer of Time & Death; The Destroyer of Illusion. Kali
literally means 'death' and 'time", but also 'black'. sickle, represents
the state where time, space and causation have disappeared. She is both
the destroyer and creatrix.
The
attributes of Kali
Amounts other attributes she holds a sickle, wears a girdle of severed
arms, a necklace of skulls or severed heads, earrings of children's
corpses, cobras as bracelets or garlands. Her mouth is blood-smeared.
She is accompanied by she-demons.
