In 2001 the followers of Lord Shri Swaminarayan (the 18th century Satguru of Sabij Yoga) donated money to the Sree Mukti Kshetra Development & Conservation Committee to rebuild a 1.2 km wall around Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa.

Muktinath Lama Wangyal (see picture) is both chairman of this committee of local people of the Muktinath Valley as well as abbot of Muktinath-Chumig Gyatsa, whereby his nuns are the traditional caretakers of the pilgrimage site.
